1. Eggs and Toast

"Eggs and Toast" is a title that should be understood on two levels. As food, this is a nutritious and convenient-to-make breakfast which is tasty and well-loved by many. On the other hand, to "egg" someone one is really to cheer him/her on to achieve something, and to propose a "toast" to someone is to honour and to celebrate this particular person.

Thus, "Eggs and Toast" is intended to be a weekly column to share with you easy-to-read articles to nourish your mind and soul when it comes to leadership. It is hoped that through this, some form of encouragement for you may be derived.

This column is a space for

• (i) articles with practical advice on different aspects of leadership,
• (ii) personal pieces written by leadership gurus such as John C. Maxwell,
• (iii) biographies and autobiographies of student leaders and leaders in the corporate world,
• (iv) short notes of appreciation by students and teachers to student leaders for their effort in leading the teams,
• (v) any pieces of work (can be comics!) that fit into the theme of "Eggs and Toast" as explained above.

3. What we do

The SLD committee believes that in every NYJCian, there is the potential of a leader. Through the variety of programmes and opportunities set in place, the committee hopes to develop this potential in you through a structured programme that looks into the needs for different students at different stages of leadership development.
