With races for all abilities and ages the series provides a low entry level to beginning athletes, encouraging Singaporeans to take up sports, get fit and enjoy the health benefits of exercise. The event attracts every year more than 50% first time multi-sport athletes. The vibrant atmosphere, green venues and athlete/spectator friendly format creates a conducive environment to enjoy sports/exercise. Also the competition may motivate some. Breakthrough Missions Volunteering Programme
We, Breakthrough Missions are a Christian organization involved in drug rehabilitation and aftercare work geared towards helping ex-drug addicts to re-integrate into society as useful and contributing citizens. We are registered with and recognized by the government of Singapore and are affiliated with SCORE, NCSS, ACHWH and work closely with the Singapore Prison Service and the CNB in the ongoing endeavour to fight substance abuse. Since then, the non-profit Gospel-based ministry has come a long way – 28 years.
Since 2007, we started to include the Community Involvement Project (CIP) into our curriculum to create a dual-way platform of social interaction and acceptance, social awareness to benefit both our residents and the partnering agency. We see this as a valuable opportunity for your students to raise their social awareness level. We will engage one of our voluntary partner to be our Project Co-ordinator, to provide administrative and logistic support.
We look forward to your kind support to make the project a success and achievement, for our shared vision and mission in helping to build a more cohesive society for all Singaporeans. I will be contactable at 9060 1052 or via email as stated above.
Thank You.
Yours sincerely,

Bike Rally 2012
Bike Rally is an annual national event organised by NTU Sports Club and this time round, we are back again for Bike Rally 2012. We are appealing to interested students to take part in our event as participants. In addition, we are also seeking the help of JC students to be part of this exciting event as volunteers, where they can not only enjoy the fun experience of a cycling event but at the same time contribute to the community and collect Community Involvement Programme (CIP) hours.
What is Bike Rally about?
Like previous years, Bike Rally 2012 is a non-competitive island wide cycling event which aims to promote cycling as a sport and an alternative form of transportation as well as encourage Singaporeans to lead a healthy lifestyle. On this very day, hundreds of cyclists from all walks of life will gather together as one, cycling the full route of 128/168km together, and passing on our very own Bike Rally slogan to the public – Wheel you ride with me? As we cycle along the circumference of Singapore, we highlight the presence and safety of cyclists on our roads, and at the same time promotes road safety practices. It does not matter whether you are an avid or novice cyclist. Bike Rally has always been organized to cater to cyclists of all types – beginner, intermediate and professional, and it will be of no exception this year.
When is the event held?
Date: 26th February 2012, Sunday
Start Point: Marina Bay F1 Pit Building
What are the benefits of Bike Rally volunteers?
Every student volunteer would be given:
20 CIP hours
“Volunteer” event singlet
Goodie Bag
Welfare Pack
Meals provided (Breakfast and Lunch)
What is the job scope of a volunteer?
Student volunteers would mainly be taking the role of Road Marshals, to direct cyclists in the designated route. However, some volunteers might be asked to help out at the various checkpoints as Checkpoint Helpers or at the main event ground as Main Event Ground Helpers.
*Note: Volunteers are required to spend a night in NTU prior to the event day as the event would start rather early in the morning. They would be sent to their respective positions on the event day itself with transport provided.
Tentative timing would be from 10pm (25th February 2012) to 6pm (26th February 2012).
How do I sign up as a volunteer?
Students who are interested to sign up as a volunteer for Bike Rally 2012 will have to e-mail limyeejin@gmail.com
Deadline for application as volunteers would be on 10th February 2012.

Bare Your Sole 2012
Habitat for Humanity, an international Christian charity dedicated to fight poverty by building houses for the poor.
We would like to invite you to play a part in poverty-fighting by participating in Bare Your Sole. This is our annual charity barefoot walkathon which takes place on Saturday morning, 2 June 2012 at Gardens By the Bay, Singapore's very own waterfront gardens at the heart of Marina Bay.
Bare Your Sole is a fun family event where thousands come to walk barefoot in a walkathon which raises funds and awareness of the plight of children and families living in poverty housing. The barefoot walkathon achieves this by giving participants the experience of "wearing no shoes to remember those with no homes".
