Local S-L

Our college runs both local and international Service-Learning programmes for students and staff:

A few examples of Service-Learning projects that NYJC students have participated in include:

  • a) Horseshoe Crab Study in collaboration with Nature Society of Singapore
  • b) Project Rainbow: Cleaning and Painting of One-Room Flats
  • c) Health Mapping Exercise in collaboration with Singapore Heart Foundation
  • d) Wildlife Rescue Centre in collaboration with Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
  • e) Recycling Drive with World Vision International
  • f) Badminton Clinic for the physically challenged students with Singapore Disability Sports Council
  • g) Officials for Sports Competition with Singapore Athletic Association
  • h) SINDA Reading Programme in Braddell Heights CC
  • i) Chingay Parade of Dreams with Heartware Network, People's Association
  • j) Project Inspiring-Lives: Mentoring Programme with Yang Zheng Primary School
  • k) Mural painting with SPCA

Teachers and staff in NYJC have also set good examples to students by being involved in several local service-learning projects:

  • a) Project Deliver Me: book delivery services to physically challenged readers (collaboration with National Library Board)
  • b) Project Read Me: buddy reading to children in libraries (collaboration with NLB)
  • c) Project NYrture @ Labrador Adventure Centre (LAC): setting up of garden (collaboration with Co-Curricular Activities Branch, MOE)
