National Day Observance Ceremony (Braddell Heights)

On the 1st August 2009, Nanyang Junior College Symphonic Band was invited to perform at the National Day Observance Ceremoney held at Braddell Heights. The Special Guest for the event was Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and the Guest-of-Honour was Mr Seah Kian Peng, MP for Marine Parade GRC and Adviser to Marine Prade GRC GROs.

Before the arrival of the Special Guest and Guest of Honour, the Band played a variety of pieces ranging from the oldies – A Lot Of Words (千言万语) by Teresa Teng to familiar Singaporean tunes like Made in Singapore as background music while the guests were sitted with light refreshments.

After the arrival of the two important guests, the Band kicked off the Observance Ceremony with a march to signal the march in by the flag barrier and ended off by playing the National Anthem followed by the National Pledge.

Given the opportunity to play at such an important occasion has indeed given us a brand new memorable experience as well as exposure which will be significant for our future performances.
