This year's percussion ensemble concert is unique in a sense that we're featuring the works of American composer and educator, Mr Kevin Lepper. A total of 40 percussionist from Ang Mo Kio Secondary, Commonwealth Secondary, Nanyang Junior College, Singapore Chinese Girls School, Xin Min Secondary and Whitely Secondary all rallied under one banner to put up this performance at Ang Mo Kio Community Center. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The concert started of with a brushes performance by Mr Pan on a snare drum followed by two keyboard percussion performances by Mr Ramu Thiruyanam and Mr Pan playing on the Vibraphone and Marimba respectively. Following that are the pieces assigned to the percussionist from the various schools. Namely, Killarny, A Warm Holiday Feeling, Night Flight of the Infidels, I Am Still The King, Snow Boarding and Boasphere, all done without a conductor. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Picutres of the pieces Boasphere and Killarny during reshearsal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All in all, rehearsing for this concert allowed the various percussionist to gel together and have some exchange of ideas and techniques. Hopefully all of the percussionist were able to turn all the black dots and lines on the pieces of papers into music so that someday when they remember this day, they'll think " Hey that was pretty good!
