2nd MUSE Festival The 2 nd Singapore MUSE Festival 2007 was indeed an unforgettable experience for NYJCSB. It was held over a period of 3 days, from 6th to 8th April 2007, and we took part in a series of music programmes throughout the weekend. Participating in this Festival are 5 schools from all over the world, namely Xian Lie Dong Primary School from China, Saint Kentigern College from New Zealand, Rajavinit Matthayom Symphonic Band from Thailand, St Patrick's School Military Band (intermediate level) from Singapore, and of course, Nanyang Junior College Synphonic Band. “MUSE” is the acronym for “Music For Everyone”. This Festival includes programmes like an Instumental Masterclass Workshop, a Fringe Performance at West Coast Park as well as an adjudication day, where famous musicians from England, New Zealand and Singapore would adjudicate the bands. Bands would play music pieces for up to 20 minutes on stage and the adjudicators would give us comments on how to improve our music. The objectives for participating in this Festival was to expose our band members to different styles of music making as well as to prepare us for the upcoming Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for Concert Bands 2007. We had learnt much about music making during MUSE Festival 2007 and had also met new friends from all over the world. Indeed, the band members would treasure the friendship that they had woven with the other bands as they continue on their journey towards SYF 2007 and beyond. Gloria Koh 0624
