Band Dinner

The first ever band dinner was held on 28 th November 2006 at Hotel Phoenix. This is the day when the juniors of the band show their appreciation for the contribution that the seniors had put in for NYJCSB. Our Principal, Mr Kwek Hiok Chuang , our teachers-in-charge, our conductors and also specially invited guests, Mr Kenneth Chee , Ms Ding Zhen Xin and our ex-conductor, Mr Adrian Chiang were invited to join us for this dinner.

This special occasion was celebrated with a wide variety of food from the buffet served by the hotel, song dedications, as well as games and prizes. Everyone made the extra effort and dressed according to the theme of the dinner, “Tropical”. The band dinner ad hoc was kept busy throughout the night being the “backstage crew” and also, doubling up as game masters. We had great emcees, Leon Lim and Regina Mah, who created the perfect atmosphere for the dinner. Touching yet encouraging speeches were made by Mr Kwek, Mr Foo Kok Wei, ex-student conductor Yap Wei Ming and the current president of the band, Lee Kok Wey, who at the same time, added a pinch of solemnity into the joyful atmosphere. The enthusiastic and over whelming response of the guests and VIPs had made this dinner a great success. This dinner also marked the birth of our first best dressed guests for the day, with Lim Shao Ming as our Mr Tropical and Joann Chan as our Ms Tropical !

It was a wonderful night for every single one of us. The dinner strengthened the bond of the band and we had indeed enjoyed each other's company. Our journey with the seniors had come to an end but the memories with them will stay in our hearts forever.
