Mass Percussion - A Collaboration

On 22 nd July 2006 , school bands from A ng M o K io S econdary S chool, Xin Min secondary school and Commonwealth secondary school came together with us to put up a performance at nanyang girls high auditorium. We formed the Young People Symphonic Band (YPSB).

At the same time, percussionist from the different school bands came up with a short performance in our own school's lecture theater. A total of 14 of us were directed by Mr Pan who excels in percussion music. The purpose of the performance was to interact with different school players and being exposed to different styles of music.

Everyone had a great experience during the practice sessions we had together. Although we had to handle both the band music and the percussion performance, it was great fun learning from one another. On the performance day itself, the whole event was a great success and we all really had to thank Mr Pan for his help and guidance. On the whole, everyone was happy that they could share percussion music with others.

We would like to thank our band instructor Mr Brando Tan who helped in forming YPSB and suggesting the idea of a percussion performance and not forgetting Mr Pan who took charge of the repertoire that was to be played and everyone that contributed in one way or another.
