Percussion SectionLet’s start with a joke from Daryl! Why are musicians always complaining about percussionists? Because they’re jealous we make the loudest and most distinct music (: HAHAHA Don’t be jealous yeah, we still love you all :D HAHA *Druuuuuuuuuuumrooollllllllllllllllll*
Although a few of them only started learning this year, but they are all eager and willing to learn and put in the extra effort just to catch up. The perseverance that they have in them is just commendable. It’s hard to catch up and be at the same level in a few months when most of the band members have at least four years of experience, if not more. I can always see the disappointment in their eyes (and scared at times right ;p) when they know that they are lagging behind during warm-ups and pieces. BUT they always manage to find the strength within themselves to continue and put up those silly smiles and try their very best to make it work (: For that, I am so proud of your okay (: No doubt with the various events that will be coming up and percussion workshop, we sure will make it! yay :D As percussionists, we do not have much of a melody line to act as a guideline during sectionals, thus making them both challenging and patience-testing. We would have to count the many empty bars filled (but we love it, don’t we ;D) in by other instruments. Being the extraordinary NYJCSB Percussionists however, who are not willing to settle for mediocrity, we’ve overcame the boredom by playing dumb jokes and pranks on one another, making sectionals a much more fun place to be at (: And it’s never quiet in the section, we have the prettiest she-male of the century, gays who keep screaming “harogays” at the top of their lungs and the constant banging of everything and anything that they can get their hands on -.- But that’s what defined us yeah - loud and distinct (: Having truly experienced the best of both worlds (quality music and pleasure), we have proven that win-win situations are not always impossible to achieve, as most think. People say music is what feelings sound like; we are proud to present to you the Percussionists – what passion sounds like. Or: music is Love in search of a word This is our 2008-2009 Percussionists(: :
