Flute Section

Presenting to you… the flute section! :D

The flute and piccolo are members of the woodwind family.
The flute is one of the highest common orchestral instruments, with the exception of the piccolo, which plays an octave higher. A musician who plays the flute can be referred to as a flute player, a flautist (British), or a flutist (American). The piccolo is a half-size flute, and its name in Italian “flauto piccolo”  means "small flute”. The piccolo has the same fingerings as the flute, but the sound it produces is an octave higher than written.

The flute and piccolo are very agile instruments that can play very quick notes, large leaps; special effects like trills and flutter-tonguing. Often used to mimic bird calls, we flutists often play light, cute and mischievous passages that we absolutely love. :)

The flute section consists of 4 flutists & 1 full-time piccoloist. The most awesome thing about this section is that we have girl power! The five of us share thoughts with one another, laugh at one another, run to each other whenever we face problems and love each other. :D

Leading the flute section is Juliana Lim (aka JuJu), the SL who does not get angry easily, takes practices seriously and loves her section the way it is (nonsense and all). She’s also the person who did this section write-up. :D

Next up, we have Joycelin Goh (aka JoyJoy), an awesome girl who constantly gives tips and comments about our playing and keeps the section together – basically, the brain of the section. :D
Then, we have Hannah Oo (aka HaHa), an outgoing girl who likes to give others a piece of her mind whenever she feels like it (i.e. “OI!” very loudly) – basically, the voice of the section. Haha omg, I’m so gonna die if she reads this. :P

Next, we have Loo Wu Huan (aka 5 Hoop), a girl who lives in her own, happy little world, and likes to give people nicknames. See all the nicknames in brackets so far? Most of them come from her. Her own nickname is not from herself, though! XD
Last but not the least, we have Julie Ng (aka Biscuit), the one and only piccoloist who jumped ship to piccolo from flute, just because. Okay, so we sort of persuaded her to, but she’s fine with it in the end, haha! Need we say more about who she is? She’s the one who bakes better biscuits! :P

Together, we are the flute section, a very united group of girls who ooze awesomeness & share the love for music. (Yay!) Hope you enjoyed reading about us! :)
