Bassoon & Oboe Sections

From left: Teo Shuan Yong, Alice Ong, Tan Shu Yi

Presenting to you the mighty double-reeders!

A small but HEART-WARMING section consisting of a bubbly oboist and 2 bassoonists. We’re never big in number but are definitely great musicians!

Oboe is a soprano range instrument, producing clear and penetrating sound. Careful controlling of embrochure and air pressure allows the player to express a large range of dynamics. It is often heard in expressive music.

Bassoon is both a bass and tenor range instrument, producing warm, dark, reedy sound. It is also commonly known as Fagotto in Italy. It is often heard in background music for cartoon.

Leading the OBOE section is Alice Ong, an ex-band major of her previous alma mater. With her great experience, the section is bound to strive to greater heights! =D

Leading the BASSOON section is Tan Shu Yi, she likes to disturb her another one and only bassoon mate. With her nonsense, the section may not strive to greater heights but will definitely be the funniest section of the band! =D

Not forgetting the another one and only bassoonist, Mr Teo Shuan Yong. He is the only guy in the section (well, the band doesn’t have many guys anyway) and also the entertainer of the section and band! With all the nicknames he is given, he will definitely live his life to the fullest and play music like nobody’s business! XP
