Young Journalists’ Workshop
NYCX journalists attended a journalism workshop on 4 February 2009. They had the privilege of listening to Mrs Ivay Lim, a GP tutor of NYJC, who formally was a journalist at TODAY.

Mrs Lim addressing NYCX journalists.
The journalists learnt the importance and necessity of networking and researching before embarking on writing an article. They were also reminded about their obligations to the publication, the sponsors and the readers. An interesting take-away was the level of commitment a journalist must have, as in the real world they will be required to report at odd hours of the day.

The attentive NYCX team.
The session ended with the NYCX team asking Mrs Lim a variety of questions from “What do I need to pursue in University to take up a career in journalism?” to “How did you feel when the article you originally wrote was heavily edited?”

All in all the session was fruitful as the journalists understood their role and obligations better.
