Cupid's Arrow Hits NYJC

Sweet smell of roses filled the air on 14th of February, as NYJCians openly declared their feelings to their friends and teachers on 14 February, Valentine's Day.

One of the highlights of the day was the activities organised by the student council for “Get High”. During the common lunch break, the atrium was crowded with several students, those of whom were eager to watch the performances.

The first event was by our very own songbird, Tay Yin Xue, the champion of The One. Her performance was followed by our very own Dancing Queen and Dancing Divas.

The champion’s performance was sensational. Even without any music in the background, Yin Xue’s voice managed to capture the attention of her audience completely. The first song she sang that day was “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce. The next two songs were “Fly Me to the Moon” by Diana Krall and “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson. The audience clapped furtively, showing their appreciation.

Up next was the performance by the Dancing Queen and Divas. Dancing to the beat of “Whind Up”, the girls put up a highly energetic performance. The dancers sported smiles and had an enjoyable time.

At the end of the performance, was the song-dedication session, where students dedicated songs to their friends to show their love and appreciation. A booth seliing mini chocolate packets were a boon to those who were hard pressed for time to shop for gifts.

It was an eventful day filled with joy, excitement, and of course, LOVE. I am already looking forward to next year’s Valentines’!
