A designer’s creativity is laudable. A gorgeous tableau of colors and intricacies of a designer’s innovation never fails to impress the audience. Models strut down the runway with poise and elegance just as the brilliance of the fashion design.

Indeed, just as the popular ‘America’s Next Top Model’ searches for new talents, Nanyang also embarks on its very own search for ‘Nanyang’s Next Top Model’. Nanyang’s search for ‘Next Top Model’ has made its advent for the very first time on Tuesday, 21st July 2009 at the college’s atrium.

Held during the common lunch break, ‘Nanyang’s Next Top Model’ contest organized by the House Exco, brought the vibrant atmosphere to its peak. The event is held in conjunction with the inaugural ‘Racial Harmony Day’ which celebrates the harmony between Singapore’s four races- Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians. A deep appreciation for each other’s culture and tradition characterizes our nation’s unique and diverse heritage.

The enthusiastic emcees kick start the event with a warm greeting.

Loud applause resounded throughout the atrium as the contestants were introduced on stage. Each contestant was donned in different ethnic costumes and each portrayed a confident and poise image. It was certainly a splendid show put up by the contestants.

The winner of the contestant was chosen by their popularity. The House Exco handed out stickers for the audience to vote for their favorite contestant. As soon as voting commenced, the student body fervently cast their votes by sticking the stickers on their chosen contestant.

As the House Exco counted the vote, the audience experienced a nerve wrecking and nail biting situation in hope that their chosen contestant will be crowned the title of ‘Nanyang’s Next Top Model’.

After a couple of minute’s interval, the top 3 contestants were announced. With Rachelle from 0931 emerging as 2nd runner up, Ariel from 0831 emerging as 1st runner up and finally Qing Jun from 0834 was crowned with the title of ‘Nanyang’s Next Top Model’.
