NY goes Green!

The Green Committee, comprising of student volunteers and staff members, was set up to promote environmental awareness and carry out green projects in Nanyang JC. Their mission is to improve NYJC as an environmentally-friendly place where both staff and students consciously carry out simple day-to-day green practices.

The Green Committee urges all NYJCians to practice the 3Rs!

In celebration of Earth day, which falls on 22nd April, the Green Committee has planned various "Green activities".

Show off Your Green

For the whole month of April, the Green Committee is encouraging students and staff to come up with ideas to make NYJC a more environmentally-friendly place. Top suggestions will receive prizes! Relevant and appropriate suggestions may be carried out in NYJC. Please email your suggestions to the Green Committee’s website.

CT program for JC1 and JC2

In conjunction with Earth Day, the Green Committee will be designing and planning exciting CT activities to bring about environmental awareness. Get ready for a whole new interactive “green” experience to invade your CT venue!

Recycling program and publicity on TV broadcast

During the month of April, keep a lookout for green messages on the NY Television broadcast, where ideas to educate and encourage recycling will be shown.

World Vision Project (mid Apr to May)

The Green Committee is collaborating with the Service learning committee to encourage staff and students to bring old clothes, books and newspapers for donation. This is done with the objective of saving the Environment by reusing and recycling. Funds collected from the old items will go to World Vision, a charitable organization. Donations collected go towards providing food, access to clean water, healthcare and education to children in Third World countries supported through World Vision Singapore. Please place your old stuff in the boxes outside the staffroom and do your bit for charity!
