1) What makes you want to join Student Council?
During my PAE period in NYJC, I joined the Student Council Internship programme. My time as an Intern for Communications was a very fun and rewarding experience for me. It really helped to establish NYJC as a second home to me and I want to make this home an even better place for all NYJCians.
2) Why should people vote for you to join Student Council?
Actually, I acknowledge that NYJCians are not obliged to vote. However, my goal in life is to spread happiness to as many people as possible and Student Council will allow me to do just that. While this does not mean that Student Council is the only way I can do that, it is definitely an easier avenue to work from.
3) Do you think you will be able to handle the heavy workload of both school and Student Council?
I believe it’s all a matter of my mentality. I believe that so long a person is willing to accomplish something, he/she can do it, and I am no different. With the right attitude, I believe I’ll be able to juggle both schoolwork and Student Council.
4) What qualities do you think you possess that can be used to improve college life?
I’m a pretty optimistic person. I believe that there’s a silver lining in every dark cloud. Optimism is a quality that is easy to spread around, and the potential for the spreading of an optimistic mindset is limitless.
5) Name a particular flaw that you have. How will joining Student Council help you to change this?
I’ve come to realise that I can be rather insensitive at times. During a Question and Answer session, views that were brought up about me really enlightened me and opened my eyes. Should I be able to join Student Council, I’ll be exposed to different perspectives and opinions and change my flaws accordingly.

Through my Internship experience, I learnt to view things from many different perspectives. I also learnt more about myself – my strengths and weaknesses. However, the learning journey does not end just yet and I want to be able to learn more. To me, council is about working together as a team, experiencing happiness, fun, laughter, and also the other extreme of sadness, agony and tears. Also, my love for council started since secondary school. It has never, and will never end. It’s all these factors that makes me want to join council and make me want to do my very best for it.

Name a particular flaw that you think you have. How will joining the Student Council help you to change this?
I feel that at times, I do not have enough self confidence. Joining SC would require me to step up more often than not, and I would be able to muster courage to speak up and gain more self confidence. Also, my fellow nominees are constantly encouraging each other! This would greatly boost my morale.

1) What makes you want to join Student Council?
When I first stepped into NYJC, it was rather frightening for me because I didn't know anybody. It was the councillors that bonded students from different schools together, and make us feel a sense of belonging to NYJC. Hence, joining Student Council will allow me to help to instil a sense of passion in all NYJCians for the college through activities so that NYJC will be like a second home to them.
Why should people vote for you?
Among all the council nominees, there are many capable leaders. I believe that I too, am capable in undertaking all the tasks handed to me during my council term. Also, I will give my best in everything that I do. I always look at the bright side of life, so although there will be many setbacks that I might face during my council term, I will continue to face all obstacles confidently and overcome all of them.
Do you think you will be able to handle the workload of both school and the Student Council?
The heavy workload of both school and SC has been a major concern to most councillors. However, I believe that it is possible to juggle my studies and council work with proper time management. By managing my time properly and setting my priorities right, I can assure that my studies will not be affected by council work.
What qualities do you have that you think can be used to improve college life?
I think I have commitment and passion for the college. These qualities will enable me to do my utmost for the college and most importantly, help to improve college life so that all NYJCians and teachers can benefit from it. I hope that all students can have an enjoyable stay in NYJC during these 2 years, a place that holds all their fondest memories.
Name a particular flaw that you think you have. How will joining the Student Council help you to change this? I have the tendency to give up my opportunities to others, such as being a leader. However, joining SC will give me lots of opportunities to become a leader in different aspects. Most importantly, I learnt how to take the initiative to be a leader during the council camp. Hence, joining SC allows me to seize all opportunities given to me and not give this up to other people.
