Benjamin Chua Chee Siong
NYCX: As a Presidential Elect, what do you think are your strengths, and in what ways do you think you can exploit these strengths to fulfil your responsibilities?
I believe that I am a caring person, as I care for my peers and other councillors. I think that by having these strengths, it is easier for me to communicate with them and find out things that can be improved on and carry out the improvements. I am quite an efficient worker and can get things done quite fast.
NYCX: How do you intend to contribute to the school?
I spoke to some J1s and J2s during my campaign, and I found certain faults that can be improved on—for example, the canteen. Many of the students have said that the canteen is in fact too crowded and have insufficient seats during break times. I thought of something to deal with that, and that is one way I can contribute to the school. There are other ways like improving the environment, as it is supposed to be quieter after school so people can study. Maybe we could open up classrooms to rent to students. I’ll look for better ways to help them in improving the school’s condition.
NYCX: What do you intend to do in your term as a councillor and how will you cope?
I intend to do a good job out of being a councillor like helping people and stuff. As a student, I’ll try to get my work done.
NYCX: What are some of the changes that you think should be made to the school? How will you implement these changes?
For one, I have talked about the canteen earlier. That is one of the changes that I intend to make.
NYCX: What is your purpose in becoming a councillor initially?
There are many factors, but the main factor is that I want to do my part like leading people and fulfil a role not only as a student but as a student leader as well. Another factor is that I’ve never been a councillor before, so I’d like to try it out. Also, another reason is that I like being here in the school, so I chose to be a councillor.
