Yummy Canteen Food Review
We consume two out of three meals almost every day of our lives in Nanyang Junior College. Thus, it is important to know what we’re eating and more importantly, whether we enjoy our meals of our days in the College. With a total of 12 gourmet stalls in our beloved college, the students of Nanyang Junior College sure have the privileges of feasting like Kings.
A student from class 0937 exclaims, “SET C2 AT WEST KINGDOM IS A DIE-DIE MUST TRY!”
Personally, that is my all-time favorite in the school campus too. Set C2 offers a generous portion of not too oily fried rice with fresh mixed vegetables, and a side of chicken grilled to perfection. A thick homemade sauce covers the grilled meat but does not hide the original essence of the grilled meat. In fact, it compliments the chicken so well that one would go back for consecutive helpings. Adding a point to the delicious meal, Set C2 is also a healthier choice that we would naturally want to go for. Mr Sunny, the stall owner and cook, chooses his variety of meat wisely. The chicken that we consume from the West Kingdom has minimal traces of fats. This certainly is enough incentive for health-conscious students and teachers to choose Set C2 over other delectable dishes.
The Chicken Rice served in our canteen is also a distinction compared to the basic plate of chicken rice we have had in our Secondary School days. Instead of a plate of measly strips of steamed chicken, Nanyang Junior College serves the real deal. A plate of either steamed or roasted chicken topping a mountain of fragrant rice, our chicken rice is worth every cent paid for. In addition, a bowl of delicious broth comes with the chicken rice, making it an even more complete set. This is evident from the frequent long queues of students waiting eagerly to buy a comforting plate of chicken rice every break available in their timetable.
With so much more delights available in the school canteen, students in NYJC find little need to consume food out of the school campus. Who says we cannot experience paradise within our school when we’re surrounded with the gastronome?
