Tight battle for the title in Spanish La Liga
With just six games to go the Spanish La Liga looks like the only league in Europe that is destined to be a fight all the way to the finish. The top 3 teams in La Liga are separated by merely 2 points with Barcelona on 62 points, Sevilla on 61 points and Real Madrid on 60 points. Valencia are also still in it as they are 6 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
In what is expected to be a tightly contested affair, Real Madrid will take on Sevilla at their home ground in their next match. This match would either make it or break it for both teams as Barcelona look to extend their lead at the top. While it would seem that Madrid have the advantage against Sevilla at hone, the truth is that Madrid's form at home is worse than their away form. As such, Sevilla might be looking to dent Real Madrid's hope grabbing back the league title - the only chance for Madrid to get any sort of silverware this season.
The crucial factor that might decide where the La Liga trophy ends up could be the fact that Real Madrid only have the league to focus on while Barcelona and Sevilla are still in the Kings cup and UEFA cup respectively. Whether or not playing a few matches less helps Fabio Capello and his men is something that remains to be seen. Capello must surely be hoping that his men are able to pull off a great comeback and snatch the title from Barcelona as it is widely rumoured that his job depends on what trophy he is able to bring in at the end of the season.
With much at stake, all 3 clubs must focus and try to grind out the victories that they need. Since all 3 clubs are on unstable form, it is anyone's guess where the La Liga trophy is heading.
