| Our
Learning Journey to the Japanese Cemetery
0632 participated in a learning journey on 19
may 2007, with teacher-in-charge, Mr. Ng How Wee. The site was
the Japanese cemetery along Chuan Hoe Ave.

We studied the inscriptions on the tombstones
and learnt about the war atrocities committed by the Japanese
during their occupation in Singapore. They also learnt of the
hardship and suffering which their grandparents went through.

The learning journey was highly
beneficial and insightful. We have enhanced our knowledge of national
history in the process. More importantly, we were also struck
by how Singapore has battled against the odds to become a small
but powerful nation. This is based on one of the 6 NE keys ideas
that ˇ°We must ourselves defend Singapore. No one else is responsible
for our security and well-being.ˇ±
