Na Yi Ting and Valerie Chew from the Science Research Programme were awarded the First Prize (Post-Secondary Division) at the “Let’s Explore!” e-Journal writing competition of the Shell Science Youth Festival (SSYF) on 25 May 2010.
10th National Schools’ Dragon Boat Championship 2010 and PA Paddle Championship 2010

On 23 April 2010, both our boys’ and girls’ Dragon Boat Teams participated in the annual 10th National Schools' Dragon Boat Championship 2010, competing against strong competitors such as HCI (JC), NJC and ACJC.
Between 12th to 14th May, a group of J1 H2 Biology students attended a 3-day outreach programme on Zebrafish Biology conducted by the A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) at Biopolis. Having experienced the workshop, we feel that it was a good out-of-school learning experience for us, as it not only helped us to understand how biological research was carried out in laboratories, but also gave us insight into the purpose and uses of biological research.
2010 has indeed been a great and successful year for both the NYJC boys’ and girls’ table tennis teams. Pit against some of the best teams in the tournament like RI (JC), HCI (JC), NJC and TJC, our players fought hard with tenacity and determination to clinch 3rd spot in the 2010 ‘A’ Division Table Tennis Tournament.
The weekly News Quiz on the college Litespeed portal has gained quite a following since its inception at the beginning of Term 2. Among these are a number of students who strongly believe in the value of keeping themselves updated on world affairs, doing the quizzes every week without fail. Such dedication ought to be rewarded and 15 lucky students, picked from a random draw of these faithful participants, received book vouchers for their efforts.
The Nanyang JC Indian Cultural Society (ICS) successfully commemorated the 32nd year of its annual drama competition for secondary school students, “Puyal 2010”, on 10 April 2010.
During Service-Learning (S-L) Week 2010, the S-L Week committee comprising the Interact Club, the International Service-Learning Expedition team and the Service-Learning Club started a school-wide S-L project called, “Adopt-A-Wish”.
