JC1 Promotional Criteria

Academic performance of JC 1 students is regularly assessed.

Students must obtain: at least two H2 passes and one H1 pass in the content-based subjects (This excludes H1 Mother-tongue language) and a pass in H1 GP.

Pass = 'E' grade and better

Retention is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Absence from examinations must be supported with a medical certificate or a valid reason within 3 days of absence. Otherwise, the student may be given a failure grade.

The Promotional Examination in October accounts for 60% of the final grade.

The remaining 40% comprises :

• 15% from the mid-year examinations

• 25% from continual assessments
