Journalism Society
The Journalism Society boasts of student journalists who meet weekly to bring current updates on college events to NYJCians. NYconneXions, the publication, has both online and print editions. The online edition is an award winning website. It has won the APEX award 2 years in a row. You can visit it at http://nyconnexions.com/. The website also invites feedback from readers.
A termly print edition is available for free. This appeals to young readers as the articles are fresh and touch on the interests of NYJCians. Previous editions have carried controversial as well as tongue-in-cheek articles. We are happy to say that we have received positive feedback and are constantly listening to readers’ views. We seek to improve ourselves in order to serve the college better.
Apart from being of service to the college, the journalists actively seek to contribute to the community whenever possible. In 2008, the journalists conducted a one-day workshop for young aspiring writers of Punggol Secondary. They taught them how to conduct an interview to drafting and writing an article.
Journalism Society welcomes vibrant aspiring writers who wish to be the voice of students. It is the only student-oriented publications managed by students for students.
