STEP IT UP!!

Nanyang’s Dance Society aims to develop our dancers aesthetically, as an art form in particular. Our dance society provides a great environment for development in dance techniques as well as in nurturing and maintaining the passion and love for dance. Our dancers will not only develop an appreciation for the performing arts, but also to build teamwork and gain new experiences.

In addition, they are exposed to different genres of dance to be well rounded dancers. The different genres include contemporary, modern, hip hop and others. These give them the opportunity to maximize their potential and develop their skills in their area of interest.

There are many platforms given to the dancers to perform both in school and in external events. These include the SYF Central Judging Competitions, Synergy performances, Get High sessions and Open house performances. As a recognized dance troupe, we have also participated in external events such as Dance on the Move event held at NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts), the School Exchange performances and also the Seniors’ Fair performance 2008 held at Toa Payoh Hub.

Dance Society has successfully attained both Silver Awards both in the 2005 and 2007 SYF Central Judging Competition. Currently, our dancers will be competing in the upcoming SYF Central Judging Competition 2009 and are expecting more opportunities to perform in the future.
