Dance is a fabulous art form, a useful discipline to invest time in and A WHOLE LOT OF FUN! It keeps us joyful and in the pink of health.

The NYJC Dance Society aims to cultivate an awareness of the aesthetics in our dancers and enable them to express themselves by means of the fluidity of body movement to music. We strive to provide a supportive environment for our students to discover and gain familiarity with various dance techniques and genres like contemporary, broadway and hip hop. It is also our goal to help them acquire performance skills and technical competency. We are looking for students who possess an openness to learning, genuine interest and self-discipline. Self-motivation and commitment to learning are also qualities we hope to find in our potential applicants.

There are opportunities galore for our dancers to perform – SYF Central Judging Competitions, Teachers’ Day celebrations, CCA Bazaar and NYJC Open House. This year, the Dance Society will be going for a Perth Dance Trip and to train with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

The NYJC Dance Society has done consistently well in recent years. We succeeded in attaining the Silver Award in the 2005, 2007 and 2009 SYF Central Judging Competitions. This year, our dancers attained a Silver Award in the SYF Central Judging Competition.
