We Film. We Edit. We Report.

Channel News Nanyang (CNNY) reports school events and broadcasts it to the entire school via the school television. In the process of news-making, you will not only get to learn the technical aspects of filming but also the art of it – in the form of editing, scripting, reporting and the management of logistics.

CNNY engages our members in creative learning.  Our CCA meets on Wednesdays, from 3pm to 5pm. During the CCA period, you can acquire many skills related to filming and, simultaneously, make many wonderful friends!  Furthermore, there will be workshops conducted by external trainers to further enhance your skills in these areas.

Every year, we never fail to have special events such as studio broadcasting and a Media Camp. During studio productions, you will be exposed to how a studio is run and see how every twenty minutes to half an hour of news episode is being produced! You could take on the role of the news reporter, presenter or host if you are comfortable speaking up, or you could also be the cameraman, the editor and even the director! Basically, you can fit yourself into one of the many roles available, and most importantly, you get to MAKE news! On top of that, our annual Media Camp is when you will mentor students from other schools to produce a short news-clip. This interaction will definitely be an enriching one for you.

Certainly, what we have learnt has not gone down the drain and our efforts have borne fruit.  These are some of our achievements:

As a member of our highly skilled and motivated team, you can rest assured that CNNY will have at least one achievement every year in either the news category or documentary category.

Last but not least, at every year end, we have an attachment with MediaCorp where you will get to learn how professionals run live news!  In addition, you will learn to transcribe and write articles for Xin.sg.  Also, following reporters around Singapore to catch the latest news is probably the most enjoyable experience of them all!

So, if you have any interest in journalism or film-making, CNNY is definitely your wisest choice. No pre-requisite is needed.  Instead, you will be equipped with practical, real-life skills during your stint with CNNY and have the opportunity to be connected with the media industry!
