1) What makes you want to join Student Council?
Since joining NYJC in January, I have really felt at home here in NY, having a really special sense of belonging and attachment to the college. And it is the same sense of belonging that I really want to impart to my fellow NYJCians in the short time that I have in NY. I believe Student Council allows me to do that through all the different activities.
2) Why should people vote for you to join Student Council?
I believe that I can help to create and organise events which will help NYJCians have a fulfilling and enriching time in NY. It is being in Student Council that will provide me with the most opportunities to do that.
3) Do you think you will be able to handle the heavy workload of both school and Student Council?
My answer would be a resolute yes. While this will be a very clichéd answer, I believe that self discipline and time management will be crucial to managing both schoolwork and Student Council. Yet, I believe that with those two key qualities, I can juggle any workload with a focus in mind.
4) What qualities do you think you possess that can be used to improve college life?
I have been told that I’m pretty honest about my feelings. I feel that being truthful about the way I feel will help contribute to a more productive and more conducive working environment, which will ultimately result in more time allocated for enriching activities in NYJC.
5) Name a particular flaw that you have. How will joining Student Council help you to change this?
I believe that I have a lack of self-awareness at times. When I get too engrossed in something, it makes me lose sight of my other goals and the bigger picture. I believe joining Student Council will help me to curb this, as many people will be involved in brainstorming and discussion sessions, which will help to keep me grounded and focused on the right goal.
1) What makes you want to join Student Council?
I believe passion is the most important reason why I want to join Student Council. I truly want to serve and contribute to the school though it might be only two short years here. I seriously yearn to see all NYJCians bond as a family and unite as one, and I believe I can help make that happen through Student Council.
Why should people vote for you?
I hope that people can vote for me because I am determined to do my best in the things that I have been tasked to do. I also hope to make the lives of NYJCians a much better one. For example, I feel that NYJC can be made more conducive for studying by allocating more chairs in the library so that more people can benefit. I believe I have the potential to lead and help others as a leader.
Do you think you will be able to handle the workload of both school and the Student Council?
Although joining Student Council might be very busy as we have to cope with both our studies and council, I believe I have the self discipline to manage my time well. I will create a timetable for myself to ensure that ample time is still being allocated for my studies.
What qualities do you have that you think can be used to improve college life?
I feel that I am outgoing, understanding and friendly. Being an outgoing person, I hope that all NYJCians can be influenced likewise and be supportive of school events, participating like a family. I also wish that all NYJCians can feel free to approach me if they have any suggestions to improve the school, as I am really very approachable. Being an understanding person, I feel that it would be able to help me work well with others like my other council nominees and do our very best for the college and all the NYJCians.
Name a particular flaw that you think you have. How will joining the Student Council help you to change this?
My flaw is that I am always accepting others’ opinions and agreeing on it. I do not speak up on my own opinions or ideas. By joining Student Council, I believe that I would contribute as much ideas so as to improve college life to make it a home for everybody. I would take the initiative to speak up as it might help in the discussion, as giving suggestions would spur on discussions but keeping ideas to me will not help at all.

What makes you want to join the Student Council?
I truly want to be a Student Councilor, and I also believe that since the option to become one is available, I might as well take it as a chance to do what I want for the school. It would be really meaningful, and it would also open up opportunities to me such as making new friends and helping fellow NYJCians to bond together.
Why should people vote for you?
People should vote for me because I am a committed person, and should I get nominated to be part of Student Council, everyone can be assured that I will give my one hundred percent.
Do you think you will be able to handle the workload of both school and the Student Council?
I won't be able to give a definite answer for this, but I will try my very best to strike a balance between both of them as I always try my best at everything I do.
What qualities do you have that you think can be used to improve college life?
I am passionate about what I do, and improving college life is something I really want to do. Also, I am open-minded, and as long as suggestions by students reflect the general Student Body, I will try my best to implement them during my council term.
Name a particular flaw that you think you have. How will joining the Student Council help you to change this? I am hot-headed at times. As the Student Council ultimately aims to train everyone in it to be a leader, it will teach me the importance of teamwork. I am hot-headed at times because whenever I have a desire to achieve my goal, I tend to be rather stubborn. Thus, if I am in the Student Council, my team mates will be able to advise me to think things through whenever I become too insensitive due to the drive to complete what I desire to do.
