3 Council nominees speak on their campaigns

Wondering who to vote for? Here is a lowdown on three of the candidates running for the 29th Student Council.

"I want to unite the students and bond the school" says Hasyimah Bte Harith from 0602 with a grin. This outgoing girl has plans for an annual funfair in NYJC to foster unity and a sense of belonging. Having been a chairperson for four years, Hasyimah feels she has the capability to deal with difficult situations. The avid dancer feels she needs to be taken more seriously as her bubbly personality often causes people not to take her seriously.

Another candidate is Sebastian Goh from 0608 who aims to be the voice of the student body. The aspiring singer believes his capability and focus will earn him a place in the student council. Exuding confidence, Sebastian considers that the only possible obstacle that stands in his way is his oratorical skills. Sebastian also has plans to improve the drainage system in the basketball courts.

NPCC enthusiast Lim Ming Liang of 0601 feels that joining the student council will expose him to new experiences. He also believes that his commitment is one of his best qualities. The ex student councillor / prefect / CCA leader feels he has sufficient experience to lead the college. The self-professed procrastinator feels that he should improve on his time management. Ming Liang also wants NYJC to improve and to implement plans from other JCs. As for his campaign strategy, he says with a grin, "it's a secret, watch out for it'.
