The first candidate on our list is Chua Yida, who shared with us why he is worth your vote.

Yida: “Ascend, Achieve, and Aspire”
Striding out of the hall with a tinge of exhaustion in his steps, the councilor-to-be, who had just gone through a grueling Q&A session with the year-2's, spoke to NYX about his thoughts on the SC nomination.
What makes you want to join the Student Council?
When I first came to Nanyang JC, I was the only one from my school [Punggol Secondary] for my batch. So I had no one I know to look upon in the 30th student council, until Zulhafiz, a year-2 senior came along and shared my problems, encouraging me in whatever I did. Therefore, I hope to be able to help the others like how Zulhafiz had helped me then.
Why should people vote for you?
People should vote for me because I am self-aware and know what I am doing. I always take precautions on what I am doing, and am also capable of improvising on the spot. I also have the ability to bond with and correct others, and people around me usually feel comfortable and secure. They share their problems with me too. My 3A's are “Ascend, Achieve, and Aspire”.
Do you think you will be able to handle the workload of both school and the Student Council?
Yes, I think I am able to do so. I have good time management and am an organized person, thus, I always complete tasks on time. It is all about one's commitment, if a person really wants to do something, he will try his very best at it.
What qualities do you have that you think can be used to improve college life?
I am creative able to think criticallynd think and on my feet in times of peril. I hope these are enough to allow the student body to enjoy the activities that I hope to organize in future.
Name a particular flaw that you think you have. How will joining the Student Council be able to help you kick this bad habit?
That would be my over use of humour in certain situations. Joining the Student Council will expose me to a lot of serious work, thus, I will learn how to find time to both play and work hard. Having survived the hellish Council camp, I learned that humour is not appropriate to handle serious situations. Therefore, should I get elected to be a Student Councillor, I will take charge of my emotions and learn when is the appropriate time to be serious and when not to be serious.
